Good Friday morning, Buckeye Nation! We're putting a nail in this week, another week without football. Not to worry. By my count, we are merely 57 days away from the Spring Game!
Hoopage News. First, the women's team. Last night was Senior night and Samantha Prahalis wrote one of the final chapters of an outstanding career, playing her last at the Schott. And it was a good one to go out on, with a 25-point thumping of the Gophers.
Prahalis ended the night scoring a school record with 42 points on her own. She hit 15 of 27 shots from the field including 7 of 12 3-pointers, and was 5 for 5 at the line. She also had six rebounds, four assists and three steals before leaving to a standing ovation with 2:27 left after breaking Katie Smith's 1994 record by hitting two free throws.
The men's team is due to end a trend; two weeks in a row of losing on weekends. The Badgers come to town for a tilt at the Schott on Sunday. It's the final home game for the Buckeyes, and if you can't get to the corner of Lane and Olentangy, check it out at 4pm on CBS. Ohio State will try to stay in contention for the B1G regular season title this weekend, but they must also beat Northwestern and finish off at Michigan State.
It's nice seeing "Fail" and "Michigan" in the same sentence. Ross at 11W wrote an excellent piece detailing Rich Rodriguez's failures at UM yesterday. Go there, read it. I'm not worthy to even comment on this excellent article. I simply can't fathom being RichRod--being hated in both Michigan and West ByGawd Virginia. And soon Arizona.
On a somewhat personal note: I'm going to be starting a new series of articles here at ITS. I'm going to try and track down former Buckeye football players who (in the immortal words of NCAA marketers) have "gone pro in something other than sports." I need some suggestions on players you want me to track down. I'm looking for players that have interesting, inspirational stories. If you've got ideas, leave a comment here, or DM me on Twitter @tonn_chris.
